EGG & MUFFIN TOASTER

Scott ordered me the Egg & Muffin Toaster as a birthday present. The basic concept is a toaster with a little egg-poacher attached so that you can toast bread (or an English muffin or bagel) at the same time your egg cooks (and also warms a slice of pre-cooked meat) all at the same time for easy assembly. I have used it a few times so far and am pretty pleased. The only cons I have noticed are:
1) Every time I use it, there is a hint of melting plastic smell. Pretty unpleasant, but I think it is just because it’s still new. It gets less noticeable each time, although maybe I’m just building up a tolerance.
2) This is only a tiny inconvenience, but the egg does not slide out as well as the website would have you believe. Granted, I have been using olive oil since I am out of non-stick cooking spray, but I really have to coat that sucker or else it takes some jostling and scrubbing to get all the little eggy bits out. Again, not a big deal.

Otherwise, I love it. So far I have used it with Morningstar bacon strips and sausage patties, and Scott has used it with little slices of ham, and it’s great for us late sleepers. Just get everything started, go get other stuff ready while it cooks, and then slap everything together, wrap it in a paper towel, and you’re ready to go. Best of all, all the removeable pieces can be washed on the top rack of the dishwasher. Big, big plus!
